Motivate Social from your inner self improvement

When you look at your life, how do you feel about it? Does it appear to be chaotic, confusing, overwhelming at times? Or does it appear to be a unified, continuous, joyful whole, progressing triumphantly towards your life goals?

Most of us live somewhere between these two extremes. Some days we’re “on a roll”, full of confidence and unstoppable. Some days we just seem to be running round in circles, burning all our energy, full of doubt and apprehension and getting nowhere.

So how to we get to spend more time in unstoppable mode, building our self esteem?

One key thing that we need to do is to live our lives congruently…

Lack of congruency is bad for your health!

Do you tend to compartmentalise your life – maybe you break it up so that your work life you do what has to be done to earn a living, in your home life you do what you enjoy and from time to time you try to make sense of it. And your health just gets a back seat :-(

Or maybe you break your life down in other ways – you’re this person to your family and another person to your friends, someone else to your boss and so on…

When you live this way life gets complicated and stressful. You are constantly rushing from A to B, juggling different balls, trying to be different people in different contexts – and what happens when inevitably when two compartments that you have so carefully created overlap – your family meets your friends or your boss!!! Very stressful.

Trying to maintain all these different compartments burns a tremendous amount of mental and even physical energy. When you spend too long in one of your compartments the others start to feel neglected and your only solution is work even harder to juggle all the balls and keep them all in the air. Inevitably one gets dropped, all too often it’s your health or your personal relationships, and then you have real problems.

There has to be a better way to live

Luckily there is a better way to live – make sure you live your life congruently.
What if you only had 1 ball to juggle instead of 10 – you’d have no problem keep it in the air would you? That would be so easy – you could do it confidently, your self esteem would rise as you mastered the skill and your could even learn a few fancy tricks:-).

Carrying that analogy over to your life then, congruency is simply the decision to stop compartmentalising your life and to start treating it as one unified whole. Making sure you live your life by one simple set of rules where everything fits together is the best form of mental self help.

It may well take you some time to rearrange yourself and your life to get into the state of congruency, but when you do, all the different areas of your life will fit together perfectly and mutually support each other. Your work will fit in with your own beliefs, your family and friends will fit together perfectly, your health and wealth will go hand in hand.

It’s time to review your life

To some extent we are all living lives that are out of balance, so take the time today to think about your life – where are the fault lines? Where are the incongruencies? You may be a very lucky person and already have a well balanced life, but there is still room for improvement.

Then think about how you can rearrange things so that you can bring your life back into balance. What are the common themes and threads running through all areas that you can strengthen to make your life more congruent?

  • The Definition Of Perseverance

From a dictionary: “Persisting in or remaining constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles.” Notice it doesn’t start, “Wisely persisting…” Perseverance can clearly be a both a good thing and a bad thing. Remember that when you find yourself wanting to quit something. Quitting might be the wisest choice.

Of course, the problem with the idea that you should quit when something isn’t worth the effort, is that it’s often used as a rationalization. It comes to mind when the effort is difficult, but really is worthwhile. It’s confusing at times, so how do you wisely persevere? There are three important aspects to consider.

    Keys To Wise Perseverance

    1. Self awareness: Notice when you look for excuses, rather than truth. Are you letting fear or laziness cause you to quit or procrastinate? If honestly watching yourself is difficult, explain your reasoning to a friend. Close friends may be more likely than you to know when you’re rationalizing. (Think about it from the other direction and you’ll see this can be true.)

    2. Costs and benefits: To wisely persevere, you need to see the costs and benefits of what you are doing. If moving to Hollywood to become a star is going to cost you your business or family life, you have to see that clearly before you decide. An honest and good decision requires honest and good information.

    3. Motivation: Once you’ve made a decision, and you’re sure you made it for the right reasons, you have to motivate yourself. In fact, perseverance requires that you regularly re-motivate yourself. Write goals down, do daily affirmations, and whatever else you have to do.

Habit is the most powerful secret of success. Practice watching yourself to make self-awareness a habit. Practice analyzing costs and benefits objectively, and practice motivating yourself. By the way, there are many good motivation techniques, so if what you’re doing doesn’t work – go read up on them and try something else. That’s perseverance.

  • It finally hit home when my daughter was born. I was the only one who could stop the charging train of my life, if it was going change. I was a workaholic. I was a young associate pastor in a growing church of about six hundred people. It felt like I was responsible for everything. I took that responsibility before God seriously; there was so much to do. I felt guilty when I relaxed. I felt like a slacker if I wasn’t at the church, not just during normal working hours, but at least three and four evenings each week, which often turned out to be every night of the week. I had a seven year old son, and though I would have parroted that the best investment of time is to spend with one’s children. When I took time to play with him, I had this nagging feeling that I really ought to be getting something done. I never felt like I had done enough. Ever felt that way?

It was with the birth of my daughter, that I realized that the only one who could stop this was me. The world wasn’t going to slow down, the work wasn’t going to go away, people’s expectations weren’t going to lessen. But I had to change. I had to rethink what I thought God was asking of me, and what was really important in life. I had to take a hard look at what I was allowing to dominate my life. I love the line out of Charles E. Hummel article, “Tyranny of the Urgent”. He writes, “It is not God who loads us until we bend or crack with an ulcer, nervous breakdown, heart attack, or stroke. These come from our inner compulsions coupled with the pressure of circumstances.”

In short, I had to learn to say, “No” to people, so that I could say “Yes” to the things that were really important. I had to face the fact that, though others may not like it, for the sake of my family and my life I had to do it. Like Beth, my wife, used to remind me, “The church can find another pastor and go on with little interruption, but your children will only have one Daddy.” I also had to face that my busyness was an addiction that made me feel important. It’s a substitute for the value and significance that I, as a Christian, needed to get from God.

I have seen somethings in the process. One is that God always has someone else to do the things I used to say “Yes” to. If something needs to get done, it does. Second, I also am able to spend more time with the Lord. I always longed to “abide” in Christ more. Jesus said that the key to fruitfulness that really matters is by abiding in, or spending time with, Him. It has deepened my time with, trust in, and focus on Him.

We have a choice. We can let the expectations and pace of life drive us. We can let the endless number of tasks that appear so important at the moment dictate our schedule. We can let our inner need for validation, significance, and social standing direct our life. Or, with our eyes on the Lord, we can realign our lives, so that what dominates our life are the things that are truly going to matter. The only person who can make that decision for your life is you. Make it. Then ask the Lord to give you the wisdom, strength, and courage to work that out on a daily basis. Life is so much better that way.

  • The Universal Laws Of Attraction

You know it’s funny how some people just seem to have all the luck in the world. Infact in some cases it almost seems to be unfair. Or to coin a phrase – “The rich get richer” or “To them that hath, so shall more be given” something like that…

I never really understood what this meant, but was always told that if you think rich you will be rich! Or if you think like a winner you will be a winner!

For instance I just watched an episode of the “Amazing Race” last night where Rob and Amber (the survivor winners) rose up from 5th place to 1st place. So far they have won 2 1st place prizes out of 3 events. It seems that they can’t put a foot wrong. Rob always seems to makes the right decisions at every challenge. They have come into the game as winners and continue to play the game as winners. Rob even mentioned that he was born lucky (what an incredible mindset to have)!

The trick is to keep your dominant thoughts on what you want and off of what you don’t want. This can be very challenging in that sometimes its hard to think like a winner if everything and everyone around you makes you feel like a loser.

What I try to do is mentally block out any events and circumstances that may have a negative effect on my mind
mentally, and then anything that cannot be blocked out I deal with. For example – if you want to lose weight try not to hang out with friends that eat regularly at takeway places, or if you do hang out them, make sure it’s not during eating times like breakfast lunch or dinner. Now, think about “How to” lose weight 24X7 for 21 days and you’ll be amazed what your mind comes up with. Your thoughts will lead you to investigate diets or eating plans that make sense for your current situation.

After 21 days of continuous thought, you will have created a success habit. The Law of attraction will bring into place opportunities and events that are consistent with your dominant thoughts.

  • It’s a Matter of Truth!

The basic definition of matter is twofold. It consists of mass and exists as a solid, liquid, gas, or plasma. It is also a subject of concern, feeling, or action, as in: what is the matter?

Matter can be mostly verified by the senses and/or the sciences of physics and medicine. As for the unseen feelings and actions, they are subjective. For instance, although you cannot see or touch a hurtful saying, slander, or mental abuse, your soul sure feels it!

Now, let’s assume you just had a complete medical, and what you had been feeling, fearing and worrying about is now a matter of fact. Your soul knew and felt it. Now the doctor has confirmed that you have a serious illness. It has a name, a medical diagnosis, and physical symptoms. The facts are in. There is no more guessing or denying it. You now have the truth about the matter.

The dictionary defines truth as a fact that either has been verified or is generally accepted as authentic. Therefore, it’s a fact that your medical diagnosis is the truth, right?

Now, let’s have a look at the Biblical definition of Truth. Yes, that word is spelled with a capital t. It’s not just a word, nor does it merely describe facts or matter. It is none other than the person of Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life! (John 14: 6)

Jesus is also the Word (John 1: 1), and the Word was made flesh (John 1: 14) God, who is spirit, took on physical flesh. That means Truth is both matter and spirit. “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name.” (John 1: 12)

Have you acknowledged that Jesus came in the flesh, died and rose again? He did it all so that you also could live in the Spirit. Through His death on the cross and resurrection of His physical body, Jesus released the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2: 4) The moment you confess that He bore your sins on the cross, your spirit gets ignited by the Holy Spirit, and you are born again – this time spiritually! (John 3: 5-8)

The Truth states that when you’re born again, you are no longer in the flesh but in the Spirit as the Holy Spirit lives in you. (Rom. 8: 9) Therefore, if the Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, dwell in you, he will also bring alive your physical body! (Rom. 8: 11)

Jesus, bore your sins on the cross, and by his stripes you were healed! (1 Pet. 2: 24) He forgives all your sins, heals all your diseases, redeems your life from destruction, fills you with love, and provides nourishment so that even your youth is renewed like the eagle’s! (Ps. 103: 3-5).

Whose report do you believe? Do you believe your doctor’s facts which cause grief, fear and worry? Or do you have faith in the Truth, which states that you ARE already healed? Your medical condition is true and factual. However, if God says that you were healed through Jesus’ wounds, and you believe it, then it is so! The bottom line is your faith! “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he who overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5: 4-5)

Be encouraged, my friend! The more you study the Word, the more you shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free! (John 8: 31-32) As you meditate on the Word, He will reveal Himself to you! “It’s not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord (Zech. 4: 6)

  • I wrote this book to show a flip side to “The Secret,” by Rhonda Byrne. Her material is wonderful, but she misses an important point: there is a dark secret that prevents us from experiencing all the good we so rightfully deserve.

My book is partly a self-help guide and partly an inspirational tool. Most importantly, it makes a significant contribution to our understanding of the profession of Social Work and to the new field of Life Coaching.

We can have a healthier, happier life if we are willing to choose the Positive. However, this process poses significant challenges for us and our culture.

We are living in times of wondrous opportunity and great folly. The world still looks to America for hope, direction, and solutions. America remains a land of majestic beauty, a beacon of unlimited opportunity, prosperity, and abundance.

But America stands before us transfixed by the rhythm of automobile engines, entangled by a war of liberation and retaliation, surrounded by a haze of unnatural vapor and murky waters, mesmerized by the soothing images on color television sets and personal computers.

See the flashing lights; hear the wailing sirens of ambulances racing through our city streets to remove the bodies of children playing drug war games. Look at the women unsafe from attack while jogging in city parks or strolling through neighborhood parks or even office corridors. Youngsters are assaulted by gunman in schools, airport terminals, and McDonald Restaurants. Robbers steal and prey on the unsuspecting in subway stations, private homes or parking lots.

Meanwhile, numerous high school graduates can’t read or write, and many college graduates can’t find decent jobs. More of the clergy break their vows and end up in court or prison. Half of all eligible voters in our country rarely vote.

Millions of Americans who work, struggle to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, clothing and medical care. Forty-four million Americans don’t have healthcare insurance. More than half of our bankruptcy claims are due to overwhelming healthcare costs; yet our political system passes laws to make filing Chapter 7 even more difficult.

In the last year alone, a million people have joined the ranks of the poor. The mentally ill and our homeless continue to overwhelm local social service networks. Medicaid and prison costs threaten the solvency of state governments. Furthermore, mass media floods us with the uneasy images of emaciated third-world children, assassinations, terrorist bombings, casualties of war, looming pandemics, natural disasters, and fear.

The good news is that life doesn’t have to be an experience of constant pain and unhappiness. Unfortunately too many people, after initially trying to make some healthy changes, simply give up and return to their old ways of living. And life does appear to be very negative for so many of us.

By profession, I am a social worker who has learned to believe in our right to heal and find peace. This book will try to convince you of these facts: we can learn how to make changes or improvements in ourselves as well as our culture.

For the last 30 years of my adult life, I have reached out a loving hand to countless many that suffer and hurt. In spite of all the pain, sorrow, human misery, and hardships that I have witnessed, I am awe-struck by the incredible spiritual growth I see, including miracles that have appeared in my life’s journey.

Do you need a miracle? Are you facing a challenge of sickness, loneliness, pain, loss, excessive habits or lack? Surely you will agree that living in today’s world is exciting, but you also know there is so much that is wrong, destructive, and harmful.

Spend some time with me and we will talk about healings, happiness, miracles, and social reforms. My healings can be the start of your miracles; our miracles can begin to transform social ills; our culture dedicated to social healing can take its rightful place in the service to the needs of the world.

This is a book about personal healing, social work treatment, and the need for social healings; but above all else, it is a message of hope. Yet, my approach requires that ultimately each person find their own inner pathway to healing. Along these lines I am reminded of a story from the Talmud: (4):

“A young Rabbi talked to his master: ‘During the time when I am studying I feel filled with light and life, but as soon as I cease to study this mood disappears. What should I do?’ So the Rabbi replied: ‘It is like a man who walks through a forest on a dark night, and part of the way is accompanied by a companion who carries a lantern. Soon they come to the point where their paths divide, and they must go on alone. If each carries his own lantern, one need fear no darkness.’”

What I will share with you is not new but old and it is a lantern. If we are to survive in this world, I believe it is time to wake up and look around. Let us choose to see the Light. Let us sing the song of Light, and search for our emotional connection to the Light that flows inside and through us all. With this knowledge of spirituality firmly in place, we can claim our in-born right to healing, happiness, and freedom.

Like the ancient Greek philosophers emphasized; “Knowledge is not what a man has been told, shown, or taught; it can be only what he has found out for himself by long and rigorous search.” (5). Absolute Knowledge—the Light, is subject to many different styles and modes of interpretations, just like music can be expressed in an infinite number of modes.

The more I share with others, the more I discover that Light is everything I know and feel plus more than I know and feel—the mystical element. Follow that which is positive, wholesome, and good.

Today I choose to share what Light means to me in the hope that you will find your own truth-vision. This is an exercise that will take patience, faith, and practice. What will soon become clear to you, from reading my book, is that the pathway to healthy change
overflows with peace, joy, and “bliss” as the mythmaker states.

I have divided my book into two parts. Part I will focus on: face stressful feelings and think positive thoughts. Part II will conclude with: take positive action and turn to Positive Power. This is a healing formula. One can use it to facilitate personal healing, to help others, and to make improvements in our country. It begins with the best we can humanly do in steps 1 through 3, and then requires our complete surrender in step 4 to the power of Light however one defines It.

I see my message as a beacon of Love-Light to those who want and need to have a better life. My book illustrates that when find the power to unlock our dark secret, we can all become more effective change agents, which will help our nation heal too. And then one can super-size “The Secret,” to get the results we all are want and need.

  • Over the past few weeks a common theme in my articles has been to stress the importance of telling the Universe what you want. Simply put, the concept of “like attracts like” is the fundamental premise of the Law of Attraction.

No matter if you are looking to improve your financial status, the quality of your relationships, or better health, your first step is to focus on what you want. You will still need to work hard, manage setbacks and make adjustments, but if you are fully committed to reaching your goal(s), and your daily actions and attitude complement your commitment, you are putting yourself in the best possible position to get what you want. Sometimes setbacks occur because the Universe is asking “how badly do you really want it.” If you give up when you encounter your first obstacle, the answer is “probably not very much.”

However, if you keep moving forward with your daily actions and commitment, the Universe will respond and will reward you. To help jump start you with living this philosophy, please consider these 7 Essential Lessons to Learn How to Attract What You Want:

1.) Gratitude. Be grateful for everything, everyday, all day long.

2.) Choose Good Feelings. What you give out to the world in feelings and energy will attract back to you, so choose positive, peaceful feelings. Try to eliminate feelings of anxiety or doubt.

3.) Law of Polarity. Every thing has an equal and an opposite – similar to magnets. Remember: Like attracts like. What are you magnetic to?

4.) Attention. Whatever you place your attention and focus on, you will bring it into your life.

5.) Intention. Make specific affirmations of your intention to have whatever it is you want. Tell yourself, each day what you want. Write it down and say it out loud. Believe in yourself and believe it’s possible.

6.) Ask for what you want. Give yourself permission to ask for whatever it is you really, really want.

7.) Allow yourself to receive. This is the most difficult lesson for many people, because we live in an “it’s better to give” society. However, receiving is actually giving, in reverse. Simply open up your heart and allow it to happen.

The quality and state of our lives is defined by the choices we make. We are responsible for what we have, and for what we don’t have. Make the choice today to begin asking for what you want. If your past history suggests to you that you are not deserving or capable of receiving what you want, I suggest you stop being a passive passenger of the past, and begin to reclaim your life today. The best place to start is to ask for what you want. Do it now, today.

Do not worry, you can now get self-help audio books. What is an audio book you may ask? It is a book that someone has read and recorded their reading. Therefore you can listen to them reading the book!

If you own a modern day house you probably have a computer and a MP3 player, both are common items today. There are a couple of benefits from audio books rather than regular books. Some of these are:

-You are able to hear the book. Now you don’t have to drop what you are doing so you are able to read the book. You can now clean the house, play with your kids, take a walk or a drive, and still be able to be listening to the book. This will take away all reasons why you are unable to read the book. There is no ends to the self-development you can now have!

-You are able to zone out everything else in your life and just focus on the book. If there are noises around you that are distracting to you, you have the option of putting headphones into your ears and just listening to the book.

-With all the great, enlightening, inspiring, and educational books that are now available as audio books it is great for listening. It has also been proven that people remember information better if they hear it compared to if they read it.

The great thing about audio books is you can listen to them anytime. If you forget something from a book you can easily fast forward the book until you get to where you want to hear. This allows you to easily brush up on the book, helping you to remember whatever you want to remember.

Another positive to audio books is that most of the top downloadable audio books are actually cheaper than there hard copy books.

There is simply no limit to what you are able to accomplish with self-help audio books. You can learn a new hobby, get ahead or back up to date on your profession, get empowerment or self improvement!

  • In order to free ourselves from the pain of anger and resentment we need to be able to forgive our self and others. The longer we dwell on hurtful situations from the past, the longer we keep our self from living fully in the present. Forgiveness is an act of kindness. An act of kindness to your self, as it leads to a sense of personal freedom.

Recently I had a client who had a lot of resentment towards her mother for many things that she had done to her in the past.
“I don’t want to forgive my mother for what she did in the past.” my client said. “What she did is wrong, and she has never apologized.”
I hear this very same statement from many clients who are living with resentment, whether it be towards their parents, their spouse, or their boss.

I asked my client if she felt that anyone other than herself, was responsible for, and capable of, making her happy. After a rather long and convoluted discussion, she said that when it was all said and done, she realized that she was indeed the only one that could make herself happy.

We sat there together for a while, and then I took a deep breath and suggested that my client do so as well. Here is an idea, I said. “What if as a totally selfish act, done simply for your own personal happiness, you decided to go ahead and let go of the resentment you had towards your mom, so that you would no longer need to have resentment clouding your life. What would that be like?” “You would not be saying that what was done to you was OK. You would simply be letting go of the resentment so that your own life would be happier. Would you want to let go of your resentment if it meant you would feel greater happiness?”

We sat there together for a while and my client’s face softened. She said that if she was able to let go of her resentment, it would be like lifting a weight from her shoulders, and removing a dark cloud from her heart.

“With all you have been through,” I said. “With all of the pain you have suffered, wouldn’t it be a wonderful gift to yourself if you could lift this weight from your shoulders and remove the dark cloud from your heart? Would it not be wonderful to be freed from your hurt and resentment?”

She sat there for a while, as tears formed, and she said very softly “Yes, I want to feel good. I want to feel love. I want to feel free.”

“So” I said, “In order to free yourself from pain and open your heart to love, you would be willing to go so far as to forgive your mother if this is what you felt was necessary for your own personal happiness?”
She was somewhat hesitant, but said “Yes.”
“Remember” I said, “I am suggesting that you do this purely for selfish reasons. Not because you want to actually forgive your mom at this point in time, but because you want to free yourself to live a happier life.”
My client said “Yes, when it is said like this, I have the resolve to forgive my mother, in order to free myself to live a happier life.”
“Good I said. “Hold these thoughts and feelings in your heart for a while and then we can talk about how to actually accomplish your forgiving.”

How about you? Are you holding onto any resentment? Are you ready to recapture your happiness? Would you be willing to undertake the radical act of forgiveness in order to free yourself? I certainly hope so.

And if not today, maybe tomorrow.

The secret I’m going to reveal to you now is…

    EDISON’S SUCCESS PHILOSOPHY

    Great! Isn’t it?!

*** Here it is: Success consists of, first, defining the desired
invention or product and then, second, experimenting until the
    correct method is found.

What an awesome, simple and profound philosophy for success!!

Since I knew this philosophy I started to turn more of my dreams
    into reality.

Edison’s success philosophy consists of two steps:

    * The first step is to: Define your desired invention or
    product.

It is the simple answer to this question: WHAT DO YOU WANT?

You must define exactly your desired goals. Your desired outcome
must be crystal clear that if anyone rather than you read or
hear it, then he can easily achieve it exactly as you wanted it.

“I want to lose weight”… This is not a clearly defined product,
because it can be achieved in millions of ways. One person can
lose 1 Kilo while another can lose 10 Kilos and so on. It is
    neither clear nor specific.

“I want to lose 10 Kilos in three months” … This is a well
    defined product.

So, before you start taking action to achieve any desired goal,
you must first make sure that you clearly know what you want.

The most important thing you must know is the driving force of
your life; the reason why you exist. What is your purpose in
life? What is your life all about?

You must know it and clearly define it in order to live with
meaning, passion and satisfaction. Otherwise, when you achieve a
certain goal you will face the shocking question: “What is
    next?!”…

    * The second step in Edison’s Success philosophy is to:
experiment until the correct method is found.

This step was a breakthrough for me. Before knowing it, I was
wondering why I’d never been able to set a correct and complete
plan the first time. Why I had to always change my plan? And if
I have to always do that, then why is planning useful?

After discovering this amazing secret, I found the answer.

First, your plan must be very flexible because IT WILL CHANGE.
As you move towards your goals you will discover new horizons.
Your mind will stretch and your knowledge will increase so you
will see better routes and accordingly you will change your
    plan.

But you wouldn’t be able to start without having the initial
plan. Otherwise you would fail because you would be walking
    blindly without direction.

The first plan will give you the sense of the right track of
exploration and discovery. Then you will improve it and even
change it as you understand and see more.

So, be ready for failures, obstacles and difficulties and be
open to learn the hidden lessons in them. Because each lesson
will help you come closer to the correct method.

Edison invented the light bulb after 9999 trials!!! He didn’t
consider them as failures. He perceived them as experiments. He
didn’t give up saying that it is impossible to achieve this
goal. Instead, he continued with his experiments believing that
the correct method is on its way.

Be flexible and open to learn and experiment until you find the
right way to achieve your goals and dreams.

Now you’ve discovered the success philosophy of one of the
greatest names in the history of mankind.

    Just put it into action.

Start by defining exactly your purpose in life and then develop
a set of goals and plans to fulfill that purpose. This way your
life will be focused and meaningful.

Then try a method after the other until you find the correct
    method to achieve your dreams.

My friend, success is a choice and it all starts with knowing
    what you want.
