Prioritising your time can make our lives alot easier and productive. By making the conscious decision of writing a list the day or night before of all the important tasks you need to perform, it creates clarity in ones mind, and at the same time an action plan for the day ahead. The real challenge is writing down tasks for the week ahead, and even the month.
I have found through experience that writing ten tasks down the night before, and then placing them in order on a scale of 1-5, has worked very well for me. By doing the tasks I least wanted to do first, like making that important call/s, or paying those important bills, would free me to complete the other tasks more easily and effectively.
It would also add structure to my day, so I would be able to add quality ‘me’ time into my schedule. For example, I love to go to the gym and work out, which I believe is an important and enjoyable part of my day, so I make that a priority of 3 out of 5. This is because I look upon it as a reward for completing work related tasks, which have a significant impact on my income.
Like most people, I come to the end of the day, and discover that I have not completed all the tasks on my list. This can be for various reasons, such as spending more time than I had anticipated on my priority tasks, or indeed being distracted by something or someone.
I then transfer those tasks I hadn’t done onto the following days list, and look to follow them through. I have picked up alot of these ideas from personal development books, and implemented them into my life. This has given me more confidence and clarity of mind, and significantly, kept my stress levels down, which is good for my blood pressure!
I also organise my house, keeping things in order, without clutter everywhere. I religiously take time every week to clear out any clutter I have in the house, like old clothes that I give to charity shops, and newspapers that I have read. Because I realise the vacuum that I have created will be filled almost immediately with new, fresh items.
I have also used the list idea for weekends and whilst on holiday, although the activites appear to be more pleasurable, mainly featuring rest and relaxation.
To Your Success

Planning is essential before writing an effective sermon. The first step is to identify with the audience. This requires a lot of empathizing. Misunderstanding among people can be reduced if they step into the other’s shoes.
The second step is to infer whether it is going to be a need-based or Biblical principle based sermon. If the audience is a congregation of newly married couples, a topical sermon on how to foster a closer relationship with a spouse would be appropriate. If the congregation is a general one that needs to just hear the Word of God, an expository sermon is alright.
The third step is to identify the goal, i.e., “To speak the Word of God with full faith in Him”. Or it can be “To help drug-addicted kids get back to normalcy”. Goal identification after the first two steps is better than keeping it as the first step; this can save a lot of time, energy and mistakes due to oversights.
The fourth step is to use this goal and select relevant passages in The Bible. This requires an in-depth knowledge not only of the Bible but also its applicability in people’s lives. Just like an effective teacher spends more time and effort in preparing than in delivering a lesson, an effective preacher spends more time and effort in this selection process. Topical sermons require more time to prepare than expository ones as the former needs to document real life experiences, relevant case studies, etc. from different chapters and verses, in order to convince the audience.
The sermon should be based on authoritative, credible sources (as far as explanations are concerned), be brief if possible, and easily applicable to the audience’s real life experiences. Whether the contents are oral or audiovisual, they need to have an impact on the audience.

There are two kinds of people in this world.
Takers.
And givers.
The takers eat better!
But the givers sleep better!
This popular Rotary Club quote condenses man’s search for “happiness” into a few provocative words. The statement is perceptive because of the emphasis on outward thought of other people.
A psychiatrist friend of mine declares that ALL neurosis result from “inward thinking” – a constant dwelling on YOUR fears, YOUR frustrations, YOUR failures.
It follows, therefore, that some attention to the needs and aspirations of others tends to confer reciprocal benefits.
Many of us work so hard these days at getting everything promised us by politicians, advertisers, union leaders and special interest organizations that we seldom look beyond our own tight little circle.
Yet, all of us are beneficiaries of generous acts of inspired souls.
A true and startling story demonstrates the far reaching effect simple acts of service sometimes have on our infinitely slow journey to godliness.
A family was enjoying a picnic in the country, but the young son slipped away for a forbidden swim in a nearby pond.
The boy ventured out into the water too far and was near drowning. A country lad came by at this critical time and rescued the struggling youngster.
The parents of the rescued boy were grateful for the act of heroism that saved their son. As they questioned the older boy they learned that he was a gardener’s son who aspired to be a medical doctor but was unable to pursue his ambition because his family was poor.
The parents declared they would finance the young man’s education as reward for his act of service that day.
In due time both of the boys involved in the incident grew up well educated and well dedicated.
The younger boy became Sir Winston Churchill, perhaps Great Britain’s greatest political leader.
The older boy became Dr. Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of penicillin.
But the story doesn’t end there.
During World War II, Sir Winston fell gravely ill. The king called for the ablest physician in the empire to try and save the only man who seemed capable of leading his nation to victory.
The physician summoned was Dr. Fleming. He used penicillin to cure his famous patient.
Seldom do our own acts of service produce such significant and dramatic results. But everything is relative. Little deeds can be as much appreciated by a single person as antibiotics can be blessed by thousands.
Where is it written that fun and personal happiness is the goal of life?
The wise men who wrote the United States Constitution said our inalienable rights are life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness. They knew there could be no guarantees of ease and fulfillment.
Where is it written that personal happiness should be our goal? Not in the Holy Book. Not in the Constitution. Not in the bylaws of our service clubs.
The purposes of life are to propagate the species, advance the sum total of knowledge, and strive for divine understanding.
All else is mirage.
Happiness in the final analysis – is a feeling that you have left the world a little better than you found it.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IQ?
IQ is the basic Q that we should master to understand fully the other Qs. The moment we were born of a mother’s womb, we are capable of showing some of our inherited intelligence that matures as one grows. Even small babies know how to cry for food and for attention. They know about motherly love and whom to search for milk.
All of us are born equipped with ‘instincts’ of emotions and the will of survival and self-protection. How important is this IQ then? How has IQ helped us? Inherited? Yes, inherited from our ancestors who have lived millions of years ago. Just imagine, we have inherited millions of years of wisdom and intelligence from all of them. We are genius of our own.
Living in this 21st century, in our very much modernized world, we are aware of how all man have trusted and built a person’s ability and capability based on certificates that proves a person’s intelligence. It is no new thing that we now judge a person’s intelligence from certificates.
With that in mind, it also means that a person’s future or his success or failure very much depends on the certificates in his hands. That is why IQ is so very important. Understanding that these certificates are so valuable in our society, most people will struggle to produce a certificate that others will admire.
People are willing to spend years in schools and institutes to obtain the highest awards or certificates available. Some even competing with one another as to how early one is sent to preschools and seeking the highest awarded professionals to teach their kids. Thus it is not uncommon that most parents build their happiness on their children’s qualifications obtained from schools or universities.
When 90% of the population are sailing on the same boat and are so goal-orientated towards ‘intelligence in the making’, one can see how important IQ is. Because of its importance, priorities and attention are focused and given to all learning institutes and in the mastering of skills for every small ones. Much effort is spent in the molding of these new generations to be what we thought would be best for them.
Let’s go back to my definition on IQ. It is inherited and acquired. Well, do you ever realized that our beloved ex-teachers, whom we greatly admired are now not that smart as who we thought they were once upon a time? And that we are actually equally good or better than them now? Can one realize that all of us are improving and exposing our hidden potentially huge traits as a better genius?
Are we not understanding that our children have also inherited our intelligence? Do you know that one can also tap knowledge from the air? Forgive me, from the air? Yes, it is. From the air means just from this universe where many wise men or sages who have died but left behind their wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom is never lost, always remember this. Thoughts are constantly born into this world but left untapped since most people only search for knowledge from books and learning institutes and FORGET to tap our inner intelligence, a rare valuable gift inherited from our parents, our ancestors and our Creator.
Don’t one also hit on some good ideas out of nowhere? Yes, you will agree to me that sometimes good ideas just pop out from nowhere. But where is this source of nowhere? How are such ideas born? How can we tap it? Where are all these ‘good ideas’ from? Why do we need to sharpen our wits? How is it explained? Can one accept this explanation? Our world did lived heroes, scientists, artists, leaders, sages, great men and women whose ideas are still living until now, regenerated and revitalized by those who felt the need to. Enlivened by those who possessed this skill of tapping them to enhance their inherited and acquired knowledge.
Can all of us accept the fact that our children of today are much more smarter and intelligent than we were before? Why the change? How is it possible? Why is it like that? Better than us? You mean our little children? Yes, they are definitely better chanced than all of us.
To teach or not to? We are all ‘geniuses in the making’ tapping our inner potentials and intelligence that was there and will be there. I am ever so excited to look into the welfare of our next generations, a smarter breed. Don’t wait to see, join the race of tapping into our inner wisdom that are already in existence, stored deep inside our brain. Yes, our brain, tapped and untapped knowledge and wisdom from within, not outside.
But NEVER underestimate what our next generations can contribute, they are supposed to be reaching beyond our knowledge limits, much more clever then ever before! They have inherited, accumulated and re-generated an improved populace that can meet just any challenge, as masters of the future, as masters of our universe, who can survive even the toughest environment. They are growing better, stronger, powerfully mutated to survive and win.
Our future breed will be making improvements every seconds and minutes, tapping into deeper potentials of our unexplored human brain. A genius is said to be using only barely a few percent of our brain. I totally agreed to it. There is so much more space towards tapping our human resources, potentially powerful. If what we are searching from outside cannot maximize our IQ, why not seek from within, our inherited intelligence?
