Often times people believe that things happen in leaps and bounds. Often times people want things to happen in leaps and bounds. I am no different. I find myself wanting what I want on a grand scale right now. It’s a human trait to be this way. The key here though is to learn to expect success one little step at a time. Success happens on a much much smaller scale than we imagine it happening. There are a hundred sayings through out history to explain this. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” We have heard these sort of things before, and now we need to remember them.
Success is in the details. Success happens in the moment by moment decisions that we make. By the moment to moment actions that we take. We don’t wake up with everything we want. We all know this. We take one step at a time, we make one decision at a time to move closer to what we want. It’s a natural part of the world. Grass doesn’t pop up over night. It naturally and gradually reaches toward the sun. We need to remember to keep our eyes on the details of the process toward what we want to accomplish. We must manage our emotions and thoughts on a moment to moment basis in order to maintain positive thinking and emotions so that we are better able to attract what we want. We must make sure that every moment is used as effectively and as efficiently as possible to move us closer to where we want to go.
Learn to pay attention to the little things. Every decision you make moves you closer to something. The real question is whether or not that something is the something you are aiming for and the something you want. Our lives are designed by the power of our choices, and we need to make sure that our choices are managed every single moment. We will make poor decisions along the journey, that is ok. However, not making decisions and being aware of the decisions you make is a completely different story. So many people just randomly move around their lives with very little energy and thought put into their emotions and the direction that their decisions are moving them. Make small decisions, one at a time, every moment of every day. You are bound to move closer to where you want to go.
Everything big is made up of smaller parts. If you want a million dollars, you need to first realize that a million dollars is made up of a million one dollar bills. So the trick isn’t to make a million dollars, but to make one dollar at a time as quickly as possible until you have a million of them. Breaking things down into their smaller components also makes it easier to manage. It also allows our minds to see things on a scale that is much more believable and managable for our minds. It is much easier to think of making one dollar over and over again than it is to think about making a million dollars. Manage the details and make as many of those details as successful as possible and your over all goal and success is almost guaranteed.

Aromatherapy is very therapeutic when it comes to healing
emotional and psychological conditions. This is because the
essential oils from plants contain all kinds of compounds,
phytoestrogens and phytochemicals that have the ability to
subtly alter brain chemistry for the better.
Given the stressful demands of today’s busy schedules,
anxiety is a very common problem. There are scores of
essential oils that can be used to combat this common
psychological complaint. To achieve the best results try to
buy high quality or organic oils as they contain the
highest concentration of compounds, phyto estrogens and
phyto-chemicals.
For anxiety you can try companioning a few drops of any of
these oils in a base carrier oil such as olive or almond
and applying them to your pulse points or temples. You can
also disperse the oils through the air using a diffuser or
candle oil warmer or add a few drops of the oil to eight
ounces of distilled water and mist your surroundings. You
can also shoot a mist straight up into the air and walk
through it so that the plant’s healing molecules cling to
your clothing, skin and hair. For acute anxiety, you can
try applying the oils to a hanky or Kleenex and sniffing
the aroma whenever you feel a panic attack setting in. The
best aromatherapy oils to use for anxiety are balsam fir,
bergamot, cedar wood, frankincense, lavender, jasmine,
neroli, rose and ylang ylang. Linden blossoms, in
particular are excellent to use to stop a full-blown
anxiety attack and geranium is the oil to use if menstrual
or menopausal issues cause the anxiety.
If you have been overworking (also a common problem in
this hectic society) and feel like you are on the verge of
burnout warming oils such as basil, bergamot, cinnamon,
clove, eucalyptus, ginger, lavender, orange, neroli (orange
blossom) and patchouli can help revitalize your senses and
raise your spirits. Essential lime oil is known as a brain
chiller and alleviates cases of obsessive thoughts or
racing mind.
Some essential oils have been known to be specifically
beneficial for depression. Balsam Fir, basil, cedar wood,
neroli and lavender have been known to level out mood
swings. Lemon, orange, peppermint and vanilla scented oils
help lift “brain fog” and put you in a cheerier mood.
If insomnia is keeping you up at night try misting your
bedding or diffusing any combination of the following
essential oils through your bedroom: chamomile, clary sage,
frankincense, lavender, neroli, rose or sandalwood.
Basil, clary sage or rose oils can also be used to aid
those who have suffered a sudden shock or who are
overwhelmed with unbearable grief. Apply one or a mixture
of these oils immediately to the pulse points to calm and
pacify the sorrowful individual.
Essential oils can also be used to help enhance your
mental performance. If you need to stay awake while driving
or be as sharp as possible while studying any oil from the
mint family (peppermint, spearmint) can help you burn the
candle from both ends.

Can you boost brain power with exercise? Several relevant studies were reported on at the annual Meeting Of The Society Of Psychophysiological Research in Montreal recently. The findings showed both immediate benefits from exercise, as well as long-term effects. Exercise seems to help your brain work more efficiently and actually make you smarter.
In one study, the thinking ability of subjects was tested. After the tests, they ran on a treadmill for thirty minutes. Then when their hearts returned to normal resting levels they took the follow-up tests. For all tests the subjects were connected to an elctroencephalogram (EEG), in order to track their brainwaves.
The first thing researchers noted was that exercising had sped up the speed of their decision-making. It was a significant difference. Upon scoring the tests, it was also found that the subjects answered more accurately after the exercise than before.
The study participants were between 18 and 24 years old, but researchers think the findings will hold true for other age groups as well. Another study showed that just ten minutes of moderate exercise each day can improve mood and reduce fatigue. Brainpower specifically wasn’t tested in that study, but it seems likely that less fatigue means better brain power.
Best Exercise For Brain Power?
Most research has focused more on the duration of exercise more than on the specific type. Aerobic exercise seems to be the common element in the studies that have shown improvements in brainpower, however. It seems likely that running, bicycling, swimming, dancing and any other aerobic exercises will have the same effect.
Ten minutes of exercise is apparently enough to have effects on the brain. It’s not clear how much more benefit there may be with longer exercise sessions. Interestingly, while most scientists probably expected to find brain power benefits from long-term exercise programs, the study using treadmills showed an immediate effect as well. In other words, get up and run around, and you can be smarter ten minutes from now.
Many people find that walking is one of the best ways to boost brain power. Apart from the aerobic benefits that are now being explained by recent studies, there seems to be something more. Perhaps it has something to do with the rythmic and relaxing nature of the exercise, but many people report that their clearest and most creative thinking happens when walking.
The benefits of exercise include better sleep, a healthier immune system, weight control, and a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Now you can add better brain power to that list. Why not take a walk today?

All too often we can feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that we have to do and it is easy to get caught in the trap of trying to accomplish too many things at once and never completing any to your own satisfaction. Often there is a push to accomplish more and more, especially if you are focussed on your career and want to impress.
However, if you want to be really productive, and actually get more done the answer is to actually do one thing at a time. This can sound counter-intuitive and there has been a push over the past few years for people to take on more and more and to fill the ‘empty’ periods of their day so that they are constantly doing something.
In reality ‘do more’ is not the same as ‘accomplish more’ and top performers the world over aim to do one thing at a time. For those of you who remember him Daley Thompson (perhaps the worlds top decathlon athlete) was interviewed on how he became so successful, his answer was to focus totally on the current event and to complete that, the other events just didn’t exist in his mind during that time.
People who perform well in business follow the same strategy. Focus on one task at a time, concentrate and complete that one thing and then move on.
This doesn’t mean that their waiting time is ‘wasted’, if they are waiting for something to happen with a particular piece of work they concentrate all of their energy on ‘optioning’ and ‘optimising’.
On those occasions where they do move on to something else while they wait for a resolution they do several things:
(a) Take a Break – The take a physical break from their desk. They get up, go for a 5 minute walk, get a coffee, anything that will take their mind off the previous task.
(b) Put it in their Schedule – They plan in time in their schedule for the new task and set this time aside. If the first task comes back to them they finish the new task (or work on it for their allotted time) and only then do they return to the first task. They always go through (a) to change their current mental state.
(c) Schedule a re-visit – They put into their schedule a time when they will re-visit the first task.
They never jump from task to task, everything is planned and measured. They plan to ‘accomplish’ rather than to ‘work’ on a task and the top performers never feel ‘overwhelmed’ or as if they are ‘drowning’ and they consistently achieve more than those around them by doing one thing at a time.
Give each task your total, complete and utmost focus and watch your productivity fly.
