Motivate Social from your inner self improvement

Ever wonder why successful people have the charisma to hold the room in thrall? Ever stood in awe as crowds pushed to be nearer a celebrity in order to see and hear them better? Most people would call it charisma, some, the X-factor. Donald Trump has it and so does Bill Gates. Oprah Winfrey built her empire on it.

It’s called power and it has two faces: influence and persuasion. Power has a symbiotic relationship with its audience. A man has power because he can command an audience and he can only do so because the audience allows him to, which gives the man power in the first place. Whatever it is that a powerful man can do, he can do so because his audience granted it to him.

Contrary to popular belief, power has nothing to do with control and manipulation. In fact, using these two can result to corruption and antagonism, quite the opposite of what power aims to achieve.

Power, when derived from control and manipulation can result to hostage and bribery, even deception. It can come in the form of holding information, reward, even freedom for ransom.

Influence and persuasion are two of the most basic components that run our lives, regardless of who we are.

We could be a sales professional selling a product or service, a doctor guiding his team through an operation, a construction foreman leading his crew into building a tower, a politician trying to make a difference, a parent working to make a better home, or even a student interacting with his peers.

It doesn’t matter where we are at our lives at the moment, at one time or another, we have need of influence and persuasion. We negotiate because we can persuade.

We are able to achieve things because we can influence and we don’t even have to be celebrities or business tycoons. We use influence and persuasion on a daily basis so much that we aren’t even aware of it. We use it in groceries, shopping malls, offices, parks, even over the dining table.

The gift of influence and persuasion is inherent in all of us. Some people are just adept at it because they recognize this and have worked hard in nurturing this gift. An effective way of developing it is to learn to communicate well – be able to listen with attention and understand verbal and non-verbal cues and be sensitive to the goals of the other person.

Try to learn how to negotiate mutually rewarding results. Try to see from the other person’s point of view. Be able to present your ideas clearly and concisely to let the other person see what you see, regardless of what his prejudices or biases are.

Understand that human nature is complex and very dynamic. It operates simply, but can produce complicated results. People respond to reciprocity whether it’s good or bad. They also appreciate consistency and honesty. Knowing what makes people act can help you influence them more effectively.

People recognize the need to belong and it is this concept that has helped many influential and persuasive people make a difference by just appealing to this need.

It’s also worth to remember that people are more likely to respond to small decisions than they are to big ones. And most of all, people like appreciation – not the cheap vulgarity of flattery – but honest approval of what they are capable of.

Being able to utilize the power of influence and persuasion in our lives can make a huge difference and can get us a job, raise our income, get the assistance we need, advance our relationships and improve ourselves.

We all can’t be presidents and CEOs. In fact, most of us might be spending our lives untouched by limelight, unknown by the rest of the world. But having the ability to influence and persuade can help us improve the quality of our lives and the lives of those around us.

The power of influence and persuasion is the battery that runs our society. It builds nations and promotes peace. It encourages relationships and promotes leadership.

In fact, without influence and persuasion, the world would not be what we know of it today, and what it can still be if we only use these two correctly.

  • The power of visualization is well documented. In the book and video, “The Secret”, there is a collection of stories of how people have used positive expectations and visualization to change their lives. These people have used “the secret” for weight control, the accumulation of wealth, finding the perfect mate, healing cancer and various other things with outstanding results.

William Isaac Thomas, American sociologist is noted for his formulation of a fundamental law of sociology known as the Thomas Theorem: “If men define situations as real they are real in their consequences”. This theorem led to the term “self fulfilling prophecy” which, in general, says expecting for something to happen will cause us to change our behavior in ways that make the event more likely to happen. In other words when you slice the ball off the tee and you say to yourself, “I knew that would happen” you have fulfilled your own expectations by changing your swing just enough to slice the ball.
Earl Nightingale, the late Dean of Personal Development was fond of saying, “You are what you think about,” meaning we become exactly what we visualize, or image ourselves as being. If we image ourselves as poor we will be poor where if we image ourselves as having abundance we will have abundance.

How does visualization help us achieve our goals? In his great book, Psycho-Cybernetics 1, Dr. Maxwell Maltz says “Whether we realize it or not, each of us carries about with us a mental blueprint or picture of ourselves.” He then says “you will “act like” the sort of person that you conceive yourself to be” that your life goes in the direction of your mind’s prevalent thoughts.

Dr. Denis Waitley in his book, “The Psychology of Winning 2”, says, “You are a slave to your subconscious “Robot” which houses your all-important self image. If you try to make a change in yourself at the conscious “Robot” level by using will power the change usually will only be temporary.”

What these two pioneers of self development are saying is that our subconscious minds will steer us like a computer steers a guided missile. Our subconscious will take us in the direction of our dominate thoughts or visualizations. If we are constantly thinking about being “overweight” our computer subconscious mind steers us in the direction of “being overweight”. If we want to change our direction we need to change the programming and, like Dr. Waitley says, this can’t be done using willpower alone but rather we must use the imagination. To gain the correct body image we must visualize ourselves at the weight we want to be at and, as a result of our vision, our unconscious mind will steer us in that direction.

In his book “Positive Imaging 3”, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale says the following, “In imaging one does not merely think about a hoped for goal; one “sees” or visualizes it with tremendous intensity…Imaging is a kind of laser beam of the imagination, a shaft of mental energy in which the desired goal or outcome is pictured so vividly…that the unconscious mind accepts it and is activated by it.” This is the same thing that hypnotists have been teaching their clients for years.

Most hypnotists have, at the very least, been influenced by the work of Dr. Erik Erickson. Dr. Erickson was responsible for having the therapeutic use of hypnosis approved by the American Medical Association in 1958. Erikson taught that by using hypnosis we could bypass years of psychoanalysis by working directly with the subconscious. By helping the subconscious of a patient change its image of reality he could help his patient get a different or more appropriate image of reality and quickly become better.

This is how hypnotists help their clients today. When a hypnotist “hypnotizes” a client they start by putting him or her in a very relaxed physical and mental state. Then using a series of positive suggestion the hypnotists helps the client use their imagination to visualize the changes they want in their lives. Once image has been firmly installed in the subconscious the person can see a quick change in their behaviors.

Using hypnotism a person is taking a shortcut into the subconscious mind and, as a result, can make rapid improvements in any area of their life they choose. The professional hypnotist can help a person “reprogram” their subconscious in a more desirable direction and help them to live the life of their dreams, or visualizations.

So are you thinking about making a change in your life? Then try hypnosis, it works.

  • Choices, Choices, Choices

CHOICES, CHOICES, CHOICES that’s what lifes journey is all about CHOICES!

For many things, this is an easy and empowering concept to embrace. Someone asks you out to dinner. Do you really want to go? You decide “yes” or “no”. You’re at choice. Someone asks you to do something you DON’T want to do. Again, you’re at choice…”yes” or “no”

But let’s get down to the choice of becoming healthy. DO YOU have a choice to become healthier? YOU sure do have that choice but why is it that our society is getting fatter and fatter each time we watch the news and tv.

HMMM! After all isn’t it our choice to stay fat or do something about our body fat, OUR LIFE, OUR DESTINY OUR FAMILIES FUTURE?

In life we got 4 choices to each and every decision we make, lets take a look at these 4 choices.

CHOICE #1 – STAY in the perspective of “I don’t have a choice” WHILE RESISTING or RESENTING the original commitment. This is a CHOICE.

CHOICE #2 – Make a new agreement. I’m big on keeping my word, however I believe it’s even MORE important to “be at choice”. And, often times creating a new agreement is best for YOU.

CHOICE #3 – Explore alternative resources. When we’re locked into “I don’t have a choice”, we’re less likely to explore alternative resources or to accept help from others. Set aside your ego and the need to be “significant”. Give up the notion of something “having” to be hard. Be WILLING for it to be easier. It doesn’t always have to be a struggle. “Be at choice” and open yourself up to the alternatives. Ask a powerful question. One of my friends is always asking, “How can this be done more easily and efficiently?” Funny thing is, there is usually an easier way if we’re open to it, and she is ALWAYS finding a way.

CHOICE #4 – ALIGN with your original CHOICE and DECIDE to ENJOY it or at the very least ACCEPT it. FIND SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR CHOICE – the challenge of it, working with a team, using your creativity, the feeling of accomplishment when the task is complete, knowing you’re a person of your word, learning and growth opportunities, or simply CHOOSING to follow through and give your best. I’m not suggesting you PRETEND, or that this is always EASY. I am suggesting that even in the most challenging of situations there is ALWAYS a way to RE-FRAME things within yourself and re-align with CHOICE if you’re open to that possibility. Focus on what excited you about the project in the first place. Focus on what following through with your choice will give you.

So here we are and we have made a CHOICE to become healthier and live life to the fullest capacity we can live it to.

As discussed earlier we do have a choice to stay fat or be a healthier and leaner person.

We choose to over eat, not exercise, eat poor choices of food, not drink enough water, are you getting the picture yet? Is this you? Most of population is like this, so how can we change our beliefs and start believing in ourselves that we can become leaner and healthier? To give you an idea what we need to do there are some words that I keep on repeating on a daily basis.

“In your heart lies the key,
    That unlocks your desitiny
    Look within and we’ll find,
    everything we’re longing for”

The answers lie within you, each one of us has the power to make the choices that WILL CHANGE OUR LIVES, and in most cases it can be a positive result within a few days of just focusing on changing your beliefs and BELEIEVING IN YOURSELF THAT YOU CAN CHANGE NOW!

There is a quote that I love and it has become a affirmation for some time to keep me focused here it is.

‘The mind can assert anything and pretend it has proved it.’
    DH Lawrence

YES it is mind over matter.

Take charge of your health now before the fat takes charge of you, your life and everyone else around you.

MAKE THE “EASY” CHOICE AND MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR TODAY! FOR A HEALTHIER, LEANER BODY TOMORROW!

Remember if you think that any choice is hard, IT WILL BE HARD, THINK ITS EASY AND YOUR LAUGHING DOWN THE ROAD OF SUCCESS OF A LIFETIME.

YOU CAN DO IT, JUST DO IT, YOU WILL SUCCEED, THIS IS EASY, I AM WORTH IT!

  • Don’t Talk Yourself Out Of It

Have you ever thought up a really cool invention, only to see somebody else create it a few months later? What about your idea to travel to a far away exotic land, only to never go? Or maybe you’ve come up with a brilliant business idea only to let others talk you out of it?

I’m going to let you in on little secret… that actually is a big deal!
When an idea first arrives in your head – it’s inspired. Handed over from spirit. It’s a green light to joy. All systems go. If you go forward with it, you will be delighted with the results. All solutions will arrive with ease and excitement to make the idea unfold. Resources will be revealed to you with relative ease.
This process will happen every time if you let it.

BUT (…and this is a big but) if you immediately shut the idea down as bogus, far fetched or way too complicated…it will be. The idea will go nowhere and you will have blown off your inner guidance. You will become captivated by your evil gremlin who likes to hold a genius down.

Here are some famous lines that your gremlin will use on you:
    * You don’t have enough brains to carry this one out.
    * You don’t have enough money or time to do this.
    * Who do you think you are?
    * That’s a dumb idea.
    * Cool ideas like this are for other folks, not you.
    * How are you going to do that?!
    * You’d lose you’re a** if you try that!
    * Yeah, right!

Do you have some idea or desire that you’ve put on the back burner for some other day? I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t scream (with confidence and support) from my roof top to you: turn on the heat and get that idea cooking! The reason that other people do and have things you don’t is because they acted on it. Many of them didn’t know how the heck they were going to carry it out when they first started, BUT they kept to the vision.

I’m telling you, you do have all the resources and skills you need to see an idea or desire manifest. If you think any other way, you are talking yourself out of it. You are raining on your own parade and buying into the bull.

Do yourself a favor and tell someone who you know will be supportive of you. Just asking someone for their support is a great first step. Commit to one action step to get it going. The step can be small. If someone gives you their negative feedback, that is their own gremlin talking, not yours. Suggestions are welcome, but always follow what brings you joy and feels right in your gut. Talk yourself into results, joy and success.
If I listened to my gremlin, I would never have gotten to my vacation destination for the holidays. It told me to go elsewhere or just stay home. I became committed to my intended destination before the holiday and I was there in 20 hours, despite nature interfering in Denver. Even with the unexpected change, I still held to my commitment by getting in a car and driving. It was fun! I let myself enjoy the journey. My vacation turned out sooo much better than I had even planned.

Remember, a twist in a plot is not a bad thing. What may seem at first to be an obstacle could end up being the best catalyst for something even better. Use what seems to be a roadblock as a way to generate better ideas. Trust that you will get to your destination . . . in the perfect timing. Your focus and beliefs are the key.

Say this outloud: I can and will do this.
I can have anything I want.
    Because I rock!
    Now talk yourself into it.
All the ideas that make you excited are the right ones to go after.
